Description :
This mod replaces the all the original backfire sounds of the game for the ones I made.
It won't work on some cars (DLC Cars) that have their backfire sounds in their own .awc file.

Installation :
- Extract "GTA V Other Backfire Sound by Hippy.zip"
- In OpenIV, go to Grand Theft Auto V/(mods)/x64/audio/sfx/RESIDENT.rpf
- Right click on "vehicles.awc" and click on "Export to opnFormat (.oac)" (Extract it wherever you want). It will create a "vehicles.oac" file and a "vehicles" folder
- Go in the "Other Backfire Sound" mod files you extracted, copy all the content of the "Additional files to copy" folder, and put it in the "vehicles" folder that got created when you extracted "vehicles.awc"
- Go in the folder of version of the mod that you want (in the "Backfire Sounds" folder, then in Version 1, Version 2, or Very old Version), copy all its content, and put it it the "vehicles" folder that got created when you extracted "vehicles.awc"
- Go on OpenIV, and again, in Grand Theft Auto V/(mods)/x64/audio/sfx/RESIDENT.rpf
- Click on "New" (top left) then "Import openFormats"
- Choose the "vehicle.oac" file that got created when you extracted "vehicles.awc", and click Open.
- Click Ok.
- The mod is installed ! You can now close OpenIV and launch your game, and enjoy your new Backfire Sounds !
Changelog :
- Version 1.04 : Added 2 new versions, each having only one sound but with a different pitch for every file. The very old version is still available.
- Version 1.03 : Corrected a glitch where there was no sounds of vehicle.awc at all because of an misnamed file.
- Version 1.02 : Better and more understandable installation instructions
- Version 1.01 : I now added a "New Version" that has better and more realistic sounds.
- Version 1.00 : First release.

People having no backfire sound, it's most probably because of the changes been made in late updates. If you extract vehicles.awc and open vehicles.oac in notepad++, you can see some of the files are not present inside the file with the same name. They are still there but for some stupid shitty reason rockstar decided to change the name of some sound files.
For this reason you can't hear some of the sounds you add. I have this problem with siren mods too. The files (some) they supposed to replace have different names now and they don't play :/

is this currently working as of 2021? if so will this mod work with already existing engine sound mods?

I have no idea how you managed to get it working but I followed the instructions, even a youtube video. so I pop on fivem as one of my characters is a car dealer. pull out every car an nothing, stock sounds. I do believe what Aurora said about the file names being changed messing with it. I think maybe a update is needed?

PERO YO ESTABA ARRASTRANDO EL VEHICLES.OAC A DONDE ESTA EL ORIGINAL, SIGUIENDO ESTOS PASOS FUNCIONO Y LOS AUTOS TIENEN SONIDO
Instalación:
- Extrae "GTA V Other Backfire Sound by Hippy.zip" donde quieras
- En OpenIV, vaya a Grand Theft Auto V / (mods) /x64/audio/sfx/RESIDENT.rpf
- Haga clic derecho en "vehículos.awc" y haga clic en "Exportar a opnFormat (.oac)" (extráigalo donde desee). Creará un archivo "vehículos.oac" y una carpeta "vehículos"
- Vaya a los archivos de modificación "Otro sonido de retroceso" que extrajo, copie todo el contenido de la carpeta "Archivos adicionales para copiar" y colóquelo en la carpeta "vehículos" que se creó cuando extrajo "vehículos.awc"
- Vaya a la carpeta de la versión del mod que desee (en la carpeta "Backfire Sounds", luego en la Versión 1, Versión 2 o Versión muy antigua), copie todo su contenido y colóquelo en la carpeta "vehículos" que se creó cuando extrajo "vehículos.awc"
- Vaya a OpenIV, y nuevamente, en Grand Theft Auto V / (mods) /x64/audio/sfx/RESIDENT.rpf
- Haga clic en "Nuevo" (arriba a la izquierda) y luego en "Importar formatos abiertos"
- Elija el archivo "vehicle.oac" que se creó cuando extrajo "vehicle.awc" y haga clic en Abrir.

@Sawvyeej86 Cause there's probably only one audio file for the exhaust backfire sound therefore only one file to replace which means all vehicles will use that same audio.
it erased my tyre screeching sound (when you drift around) and probably some other sounds. Any way to get them back?

bueno, despues de un tiempo volvi al gta 5 y a este mod, ahora hice como antes y no hay solucion. me paso al forza horizon 5 este juego tiene mas fallas que una mujer minada de cirujias, un desastre

For anyone following the video tutorial, make sure you replace the files in your MODS/x64 file path instead of the default x64, or the sounds will not work.
