IMPORTANT NOTICE (25/05/2024)
Bad news. I love this mod, but I currently don't have the time to continue working on it. I'm sorry.
NOTES:
=======
This mod works best when having finer controls like a controller or steering wheel, rather than using the keyboard.
Update 1.04a:
At long last, I've managed to finish working on the update, which includes the latest vehicles from the Mercenaries DLC.
I found a small, but crucial error in the file that might cause crashes under certain circumstances. This should be fixed now.
KOWN ISSUE: There is a strange bug with the Freight Trailer. It shares its handling settings with the Army Trailer and the Freight Trailer with the Cutter on top, but it just will not hitch to a truck, even though the others do. This causes the "off shore" path of the Merryweather Heist to fail once the truck with the sub arrives at the Sandy Shores airport.
I've been unable to fix this (so far). It's NOT an issue with the Packer, as other vehicles won't hitch either. Issue found by dceve
If you want to show your appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.
=======
ABOUT:
=======
I've worked for over 1,400 hours on modifying every single land vehicle in GTA V, including DLC vehicles. I've tried to find a nice balance between more realistic vehicle behaviour, and a fun/arcade style of driving. I sincerely hope you find this mod enjoyable.
- Pretty much every handling value has been edited. Mass, top speeds, acceleration, grip, inertia, suspension, drag and downforce, ...
- Vehicles have slightly less grip and braking force than the Vanilla game, but still enough to be fun and not make you miss a turn.
- Completely reworked the suspension. When upgrading suspension, most cars will receive stiffer springs and more traction!
- Crashes and accidents cause a bit more damage. If you don't like this, I recommend you buy armour for your vehicle.
- Vehicles have a better sense of weight to them.
- Removed ABS from older cars. Later vehicles from around the '90s have it as an option (Get in a Blista Compact and find out!).
- Some Super Cars like the Adder can reach 400 plus km/h, similar to their real life counterparts. In fact, all cars have speeds closer to their real-life counter parts.
- Some more advanced vehicle settings/handling flags that were only possible after later GTA updates have been applied to vehicles from before those updates.
- So much more... I even added some hidden features. (Let me know if you think you've found one!)
=============
INSTALLATION:
=============
Use OpenIV to replace the handling.meta file in the mods/update/update.rpf/common/data folder. Make a back-up if you want to. That's it.
Since all handling data is in one file, GTA V can crash loading in so many vehicles. To easily fix this, I recommend using these mods:
- https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars
- https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heapadjuster
- https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/packfile-limit-adjuster

The best vanilla handling mod I've ever used.
Vehicle details such as wheels turn, suspension feedback are perfectly tuned.
And most important, this mod supports MANY DLC vehicles !
@allan704 Make sure you have an up-to-date heap adjuster, packfile limit adjuster and weapons limits adjuster. Also make sure your ScripthookV and ScripthookVDotNet are updated. I had an issue with the previous ScriptookV. With those, you should be fine, as that's what I use.
Fantastic mod! This is a great alternative to Drive V :D
@Daddynnoob Thank you, that's high praise.
@Daddynnoob I said the same thing 2 years ago and I still stand by it the absolute BEST handling mod out there.
@Quincunx Thanks for letting me know Delapidated's game config doesn't work anymore....bout to change my game config now....i'll keep you up to date if I spot any bugs or if anything needs improving.....Good to have you back and wish for the best for anything thats happening in your life.
I tried the game config and still crash at loading....my game has mods on it already i might have to do a fresh install and see if the handling only works and the build my mods back around it.
@Slick_Nick Thanks for the praise and I appreciate you wishing me well :) It's odd that the game would crash. It seems like every time there's a new update, a new gameconfig file is needed. The other mods I list are also important. I use those, and if it still crashes, I don't understand it. Maybe try increasing the heap size or packfile limits even more?
@Slick_Nick https://github.com/pnwparksfan/gameconfig use this gameconfig instead
@Daddynnoob I tried it and the game config by itself works fine but when i add the handling file it crashes i was using DriveV mod and when I replaced the handling the game crashes....i uninstalled DriveV then add the handling it still crashed.....Im gonna just start from scratch and just try the handling mod alone...then build my mods around it.
Just did a clean Install and still crashes when i put in the handling file in....the game configs work fine by themselves....I don't know why it is crashing.
I also put in all the recommended adjuster mods ie. Weapon limit adjuster/ packfile adjuster/ heap adjuster and they work fine...but a soon as I add the handling it crashes.....don't know what's going on...I really want to use this mod again.
Hey @Slick_Nick, I always check the file for errors before I upload, but somehow a tiny one slipped in. I fixed it and a new version is uploading right now. Try that one. Hopefully that fixes the issue.
@Quincunx New version fixed the issue....OMG!!! OMG!!! THANK YOU!!! I MISS THIS HANDLING MOD!!! BEST ONE EVER!!!!
@Slick_Nick Hahaha great :) By the way, could you do me a favour? (And everyone else reading this) I've posted a question on the main page about the future of this mod, and I'd like your feedback. You can DM me or reply here in the comments.
does this mod work for add on vehicles??
@rbs88 Do you mean additional cars you've downloaded? No, unless they replace a car already in the game. Otherwise I don't have the handling data for that add-on vehicle, so I can't tune for it.
@Quincunx its still work with v 3028 and v31 gameconfig
(stand 24.10.23)
@DenoNomads Is this a question or a comment? I haven't tested it on the latest patch, since I've been busy, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.
@Quincunx a question
@DenoNomads As I said, I haven't had time to test with the latest patch. You might need to download a new gameconfig. That seems to be the case with most GTA V updates.
